¨Project Circus is not the classical circus with trapezists and fire eaters, it is a show that took place on November 15 and 16 during the VIII Biennial of Havana (2003) and with the participation of many Cuban and foreign visual artists who worked together with actors, actresses and musicians to present a show that proposed art as a celebration and as entertainment. They intervened the circus space (circus as tent and tradition) to reconstruct a new show, this time with visual art as the protagonist. (…) The Tent, located in the Africa Square in Alamar, Eastern Havana, looked as a common tent. One of the intentions of this project was to create confusion in the spectator pretending it was a real circus to attract an unprepared public to the show¨. (Up With the Tent! The Circus has arrived... Lien Carrazana (2004)). |
