CURRICULUM VITAE: MaRod: 1962, Havana, Cuba.
Themes of music and peace resonate in MaRod´s paintings. In her early twenties, she studied music at the conservatory of Prague, in former Czechoslovakia, and participated in painting events and exhibitions in Europe. In 1981, she began studying Psychology at the University of Budapest, Hungary and graduated in 1988. Her passion for the canvas and brush compelled her to continue studying and in 1994 she participated in Workshops in Cyprus.
MaRod´s works have been relished by thousands in various countries, with 14 personal exhibitions and more than 40 group exhibitions in Cuba, Hungary, Cyprus, Mexico, Belize, Dominican Republic, Indonesia, USA., Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Italy, England and France. Some of her works are in the hands of private art collectors from Europe and America.
Currently as a member of Arts Amica project in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, she has decorated hotels and restaurants in Cuba, among other countries, and has also designed clothes, as well as stage decorations for theatrical productions and the silver screen. She has taught painting and is currently working on a psychological research project related to the arts. MaRod is a member of the Cuban Association of Artists, the International Association of Plastic Artists "SKALA" and the Commission of Writers and Artists of the Cuban Movement for Peace. In October of 2003 she participated with other Cuban and Spanish artists in a joint exhibition for peace at the Cuban Movement for Peace. She recently won the Unesco´s New Year´s Card Contest and the painting “Pasando el tiempo" was the Unesco´s New Year´s greeting for the world. MaRod’s most recent exhibition was as a single artist at the Cuban Foreign Affairs Ministry in January 2004. |
